Data Storage in LSL

We've long complained about the lack of data storage in LSL™ and with good reason.. The fact is, there are many options for temporary storage but no options for long-term data storage. Very Keynes has written an awesome table system in LSL called VK-DBMS..if you haven't seen it, you've got to take a look at VK-DBMS on the SL™ forums. She's done an amazing job here..be sure and visit the googledoc page that's linked there too, for the full manual and sample applications to learn from.

This is what I've been playing with the last couple days, just because Very posted a VK-DBMS Storage Cube and the application of the system just got me going. I had to play with it a bit lol. The only problem is, it's still LSL, so it's still temporary..a good hard sim reset or accidental script reset and that's it..all your data is gone. Still, it's a great little way to keep some data inworld, even if you use a web backup for your data, which would be smart I think, it's just less intensive to get the data and work with it inworld than to have to constantly go to a server for information. I like it, and I'm probably going to use it in some coming projects which require just this type of thing.

Anyway, here's hoping Very doesn't mind me plugging the VK-DBMS here in a blog almost nobody reads yet lol..but hey, it's open sourced, so I figure it's free game for me to recommend - and I do!

Remember - it's all in the wrist..
